SUPP PUBLIC COMPLAINTS BUREAU PRESS RELEASE

SUPP Public Complaints Bureau (PCB) Chief, Wilfred Yap was recently approached by a women residing in Kota Sentosa area who requested for his assistance for lodging a police report on an accident that occurred in Muara Tuang. On her way home from Muara Tuang to Kota Sentosa, a motorcar had knocked the rear of the car she was driving. However, the driver of the motor car that knocked into the rear of her car did not have a valid road tax and insurance. Due to the accident the woman proceeded to Samarahan Police Station to lodge a police report but the policeman on duty discouraged the women from lodging the report for various reasons.

Following the woman’s request for assistance, Wilfred Yap immediately brought her to the One Stop Police Center at Simpang Tiga, Kuching to lodge a report to record the actual situation that happened the previous day. After lodgement of the police report at the One Stop Police Center at Simpang Tiga, Kuching the woman proceeded to Samarahan Police Station and did not have any further problem lodging her report on the accident that happened 24 hours earlier.

SUPP PCB Chief, Wilfred Yap would like to inform the public that anyone involved in an accident must immediately lodge a police report and the police report must be lodged not later than 24 hours after the accident occurred to prevent any problems, in particular with the insurance claim. The policeman on duty at any police station in Malaysia have no power or authority to refuse to accept a police report.

If the public faces any problems with lodging of any police reports, they can approach SUPP Public Complaints Bureau for assistance.
