SUPP PUBLIC COMPLAINTS BUREAU PRESS RELEASE

SUPP Public Complaints Bureau (PCB) Chief, Wilfred Yap was recently approached by residents at Sin San Tu, off Jalan Matang Batu Kawa who requested for his assistance to address their predicament of stagnant water due to land filling by a private landowner which resulted in the blocking of a natural drain flowing through his land. The blockage of the natural drain happened more than 6 months ago and was causing the affected residents of Sin San Tu anxiety and great inconvenience.

Following the requests for assistance received, SUPP PCB Chief Wilfred Yap together with Jong Tien Kiong, the special officer of YB Datuk Prof Sim Kui Hian had gone to inspect and assess the situation to see what can be done to resolve the problems raised by the affected residents.

Subsequent to the visit, it was discovered that the Drainage & Irrigation Department are already aware of the problem but was unable to proceed to unblock the natural drain as the cause of the blockage was on private land and as such required the private landowner’s consent.

A meeting was subsequently arranged with the private landowner to discuss with him the predicament of the stagnant water affecting the residents of Sin San Tu. SUPP PCB would like to thank the private landowner for consenting and allowing Drainage & Irrigation Department to enter his land for the purpose of clearing the blockage of the natural drain. Drainage & Irrigation Department have now informed SUPP PCB that they are now arranging for the commencement of clearing works. SUPP PCB will continue to monitor the situation closely until the problem of stagnant water facing the residents of Sin San Tu are solved.

SUPP Public Complaints Bureau is always ready to lend a helping hand to the anyone facing problems or who come across problems of public interest but does not know how to deal with it. Anyone requiring assistance can always call SUPP Public Complaint Bureau’s mobile number at 016-7797688 or 082-246999 or go direct to SUPP Head Office to request for assistance.
