SUPP PUBLIC COMPLAINTS BUREAU PRESS RELEASE

SUPP Public Complain Bureau (PCB) hope in the interest of the public that the relevant authorities/agencies, including the Royal Malaysian Police Force (PDRM) and National Anti-drugs Agency of Malaysia (AADK) to work closer together and to intensify their effort in tackling the drug issues before it gets completely out of hand.

At the same time, PCB is also urging the related ministries, both at federal and state level, including the Ministry of Education, Home Affairs, Health and so on, to conduct in-depth research and studies so they can formulate feasible solutions and effective strategies to help curb drug abuse and trafficking problems in our nation, which seem to have worsen in recent years.

PCB Chief Wilfred Yap pointed out, that the recent Tahfiz School fire which claimed lives of 23 innocent victims has raised worries and fear among our fellow Malaysian.

“6 out of the 7 teenage suspects were tested positive for drug use and they were expelled from school due to various disciplinary issues.”
“Family issues if not addressed effectively, tackling the problems from its roots, will create a series of chain-effects, then, it will become a social problem, it’s a vicious cycle”, added Yap. While prevention is crucial, he said, enforcement is nevertheless a must.

“We need highly trained law enforcement officers, so that all the arrests can successfully lead to charges pressed and the drug traffickers or anyone who breaks the laws, will receive severe punishments they deserve.”

In this regard, Yap said, PCB is offering to help the relevant authorities to engage the people on the ground level within its capacity while at the same time, provide its service and assistance to the people who may face similar problems.

“We welcome NGOs or individuals with professional knowledge in relevant fields, such as children or family education, counseling, substance abuse intervention…etc to work with us. Our children are the future of this nation, let’s work together and forget about politics for that matter.”
