PRESS STATEMENT FROM SUPP WOMEN CHIEF

Sarawak United Peoples’ Party Women chief Kho Teck Wan extends her deepest condolences to the family of late Catherine Janet Tiwi, the heroic teacher who perished trying to save two of her colleagues from a fire that engulfed two teacher quarters at SK Batu Bungan in Mulu.

She said, Catherine’s death is a big lost to her family and her community.

“We will remember her noble act and her sacrifices.” Said Kho.

Kho led SUPP southern zone Women Section representatives to pay the last respect to the late Catherine Janet Tiwi today, and send the regards of SUPP president Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian.

Kho hopes that relevant authority will further improve the fire safety infrastructures so all educators will be able to teach in a safe and conducive environment.
