SUPP PUBLIC COMPLAINTS BUREAU PRESS RELEASE

SUPP Public Complaints Bureau (SUPP PCB) Chief Wilfred Yap was in April 2019  approached by the elder brother of a local Sarawakian woman earlier detained in Indonesia in January 2019.  The woman was arrested by Indonesian Authorities after she had entered Kalimantan, Indonesia through Serikin using “Jalan tikus” without a valid passport.

SUPP PCB Chief, Wilfred Yap had communicated and written to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Malaysian Consulate General in Pontianak to request for their assistance for the Sarawakian woman to ensure her welfare, basic needs  and medical needs are taken care of and to speed up the legal process.

The woman have been released by Indonesian Authorities in Kalimantan and deported back to Kuching and SUPP PCB would like to thank the Malaysian Consulate General in Pontianak for their efficiency and professionalism in their handling of the matter.    .

SUPP PCB is issuing this press statement to warn the public that  Sarawakians should not enter Indonesia through  “Jalan Tikus” and without a valid Passport and would like to remind all Sarawakians to comply with the immigration regulations of Indonesia and to apply for a visa (where required) in accordance with the purpose of their visit.

SUPP PCB also hopes that the public will be more careful in their decisions and to be law abiding as this will go a long way towards not getting themselves into the wrong side of the law.
