SUPP PUBLIC COMPLAINT BUREAU PRESS RELEASE

SUPP Public Complaints Bureau was approached at the end of last year by a group of eight (8) taxi drivers who were also members of the Sarawak Taxi Owner’s Association. This group of eight (8) taxi drivers were facing problems to register their motor vehicle aged 6 years and 4 months as budget taxis with Lembaga Perlesenan Kenderaan Perdagangan Sarawak (LPKP Sarawak). When first approached, SUPP Public Complaint Bureau had fixed an appointment date for its Chief, Wilfred Yap to meet up and listen to their problems and to assess how best to help them.

From the interview conducted by Wilfred Yap with this group of taxi drivers, it was discovered that their application had already been rejected twice by Lembaga Perlesenan Kenderaan Perdagangan Sarawak (LPKP Sarawak) and that they were making their third (3rd) appeal at that time. As such they had decided to approach SUPP Public Complaints Bureau for help and assistance for their third (3rd) appeal to Lembaga Perlesenan Kenderaan Perdagangan Sarawak (LPKP Sarawak) after reading in the press that SUPP Public Complaints Bureau provided assistance to anyone who had problems in their dealings with government agencies.

Under the above circumstances, SUPP Public Complaints Bureau had appealed to Lembaga Perlesenan Kenderaan Perdagangan Sarawak (LPKP Sarawak) on behalf of this group of taxi drivers and requested LPKP Sarawak to consider their predicament and give due consideration to the fact that it would be very costly and beyond their financial capacity for this group of taxi drivers to purchase a new motor vehicle to be used as a budget taxi. SUPP Public Complaints Bureau also requested LPKP Sarawak to give their due consideration on the basis that the motor vehicles can be used as budget taxis up to fifteen years of age and the application of this group of taxi drivers only involved their motor vehicle which were only a little over 6 years of age and were still in good condition with low mileage.

On the assistance of SUPP Public Complaints Bureau and the appeal to Lembaga Perlesenan Kenderaan Perdagangan Sarawak (LPKP Sarawak) on behalf of this group of taxi drivers, LPKP Sarawak have reconsidered their decision and approved the application of this group of taxi drivers to use ther motor vehicle aged 6 years 4 months as budget taxis for four (4) years.

To those who requires assistance and who don’t understand the procedures and documents involved in their dealings with government departments, SUPP Public Complaints Bureau is always ready to lend a helping hand. Anyone requiring assistance can always call SUPP Public Complaint’s mobile number at 016-7797688 or 082-246999 or go direct to SUPP Head Office to request for assistance.
