SUPP Public Complaints Bureau Chief, Wilfred Yap was recently approached by three families living at 4 ½ Mile, Penrissen Road, Kuching after they received a Notice from the new landowner of the parcel in front of their housing Lots who informed that he wanted to fence up his land and block the road which the three families currently use as an access road to the main road. They also informed that the wooden bridge which they currently use to access the main road was built by Kuching Rural District Council (now known as Padawan Municipal Council) and that the electricity poles supplying electricity to their houses have been put up by SESCO with the consent of the previous landowner.
The three families informed that they have been living on their land since 1971 and showed SUPP Public Complaints Bureau Chief, Wilfred Yap an Agreement/Document written in Chinese whereby the previous landowner had agreed to allow the three families a right of way over his land to reach the main road.
Following the complaint received, SUPP Public Complaints Bureau Chief Wilfred Yap who is also Majlis Perbandaran Padawan (MPP) Councillor immediately went to inspect and assess the situation, see what can be done to resolve the problem and the kind of assistance that can be rendered.
SUPP Public Complaints Bureau Chief Wilfred Yap promised to assist the three families and have since on behalf of the three families written to the landowner who issued the notice to them to inform that in the event he wishes to block the access road and fence up his land, he must first apply and obtain a Court Order as the three families have been using the access road to access the main road for the past 40 years and further because the previous landowner had agreed to give them a right of way.
