\nSPEECH BY YB SENATOR DATUK DR. SIM KUI HIAN – PARTY PRESIDENT
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Warmest welcome to all the delegates from 48 branches all over Sarawak for our new annual delegate conference.\u00a0 Thank you very much very much for taking your time, preparing the resolutions and travelling all the way to our HQ for this new yearly meeting.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

ANNUAL DELEGATE CONFERENCE<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is a very important part of the party\u2019s transformation.\u00a0 Instead of meeting once every 3 years just to elect office bearer, now we meet every year to assess and to chart the aim and direction, so that we can be moving together as a whole party.<\/p>\n

Because of you and many of our members\u2019 dedication, sacrifices, our party has contributed significantly to the development and the people of Sarawak.\u00a0 Like any organization, if we don’t change over time, we will become irrelevant.\u00a0 We cannot just rely on the past glory as time and circumstances are different now when compared to 1959.\u00a0 I would like to urge our delegates to put our heads and hearts together so that we can transform our party faster and move further so that we not only become relevant to the people of Sarawak but become the party of choice for the people of Sarawak.\u00a0 We did it in the past and we can do it once again.\u00a0 We must adapt to changes in time.<\/p>\n

The Annual Delegates Conference is a good platform.\u00a0\u00a0 We must not just have the courage to lead but have the wisdom to lead.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

SUPP 2015 & BEYOND \u2013 new leadership, new hope and chance<\/strong><\/p>\n

SUPP must not only continue the excellent records of service to the rakyat but must also be helping to formulate the policies with the rakyat\u2019s at heart.\u00a0 SUPP should not just fight for Sarawak for Sarawakians but for all Sarawakians in Malaysia such as senior public service posts in Federal government.\u00a0 We should be result orientated and not be just heroic (do dare to speak up without fear). \u00a0\u00a0We are against extremism (be it red shirts or yellow shirt), we are for the social contract of all the different races (such as greater particiaptaion of non bumi in the government service through reverse quota) and religions (no hudud for Sarawak), living in peace, mutual respect and harmony, we are for the social welfare of not just the B40 (Bottom 40%) but also the M40 (middle 40%) of our people through impactful policies such as oil and gas contract in Sarawak for all anak Sarawakians, to establish a state government mechanism to get a large of M$160 Billion annual Malaysia-China bilateral trade, we are for greater autonomy of Sarawak (due to dilution and erosion over the last 52 years in the Federation of Malaysia).<\/p>\n

SUPP will continue to transform and strengthen internally by reaching to members through newer media so that we are effective in our political message and serving the rakyat better, more branches will be establish in no constitutency to serve our members, to help the other 3 BN Sarawak component parties as well as to reach out to the rakyat.<\/p>\n

Our aim is to be a party of principle, integrity, and discipline.\u00a0 A party that the rakyat talks fondly of, like SUPP was in the 1950\u2019s and 1960\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Though in recent years, SUPP had faced tremendous challenges both internally and externally, I am very grateful for every comrade to work together so well as 1 SUPP rather than with regional factions.\u00a0 We shall continue to communicate better (no more old habit of instigations and suspicions) and have faith in the new leadership that we are no longer interested and cannot afford to have regional fractions.\u00a0 You can be assured that our internal party transformation only has one option, to be successful with no option to fail.\u00a0 Because of all these transformations, today, I can proudly say that no SUPP President will overstay.\u00a0 SUPP is no longer just a towkay party but a party that belongs to members for the people of all races of Sarawak.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

BARISAN NASIONAL MALAYSIA<\/strong><\/p>\n

SUPP is the 5th<\/sup> member of BN.\u00a0 SUPP commitment and contribution to BN since 1970, the record speaks for itself regarding BN spirit.\u00a0 Since we formed the alliance government with PBB, the consequences of peace, stability and progress for Sarawak is well documented.\u00a0 Because we are part of the government, there are more than 4,000 members released from political detention and reintegration to the society, the lifting of the curfews on 3 villages \u2013 Siburan, Tarat and Tapar.\u00a0 This is why we are in government, to do something for our rakyat, our members through effective implementation of polices rather than just talk only (opposition).<\/p>\n

This spirit of helping each other BN component parties, strengthening each BN component parties, consensus for major policy decision over the year, not just become the principle and integrity of BN but a reflection to our rakyat\u2019s confidence in not just SUPP but BN.\u00a0 SUPP shall continue to uphold this principle, integrity and trust not just for our party members but for the rakyat.\u00a0 You can trust us to fight for your principle and integrity.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

SARAWAK STATE ELECTION\u00a02016<\/strong><\/p>\n

We only have 120 days left before the next state election.\u00a0 It is not only just do or die for SUPP but is also so for the Chinese community\u2019s representation in the Sarawak state BN government.\u00a0 Sarawak 2016 will not be just another major milestone of Sarawak BN government but it is the future leadership of Sarawak BN government.\u00a0 It has tremendous implications for every rakyat of Sarawak.\u00a0 The choice for the future of Sarawak is 2016!\u00a0 We need every members, not just the leaders or candidates to work hard, to work together in unity but also to enlarge our circles, to get the other 3 BN components party, to get our friends and community outside the political parties to ensure that is not just SUPP fighting for election but we fight together for the direction of Sarawak.<\/p>\n

SUPP cannot afford to be business as usual.\u00a0 The message from the rakyat is clear.\u00a0 We change or the rakyat changes us.\u00a0 But with unity, working hard with sincerity, acting always with the rakyat\u2019s interest in mind before self or position; I am confidant that we will be given another chance.<\/p>\n

I had always said we are blessed to have YAB Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem as the Chief Minister of Sarawak.\u00a0 I am never surprised about his actions and principles if you have known him over the years but I was surprised that he was chosen as Chief Minister of Sarawak.\u00a0 From the leaflet of \u201c45 Principles and Actions\u201d, you can see how much impact can be achieved for the rakyat in just 18 months (it is not how long you are position).\u00a0 Imagine how much more can be done if he is given 5 years?\u00a0 SUPP is grateful for the opportunity to work closely with YAB Chief Minister Adenan on policies like UEC, squatter resettlement in Miri and Bintulu, and many more with the aim that all of us are anak Sarawak and no Sarawakian should be left behind.\u00a0 YAB Chief Minister Adenan should lead BN Sarawak based into election based on his own self without any behind the scene influence.<\/p>\n

GIVE 5 YEARS TO SUPP<\/strong><\/p>\n

Give SUPP new leadership 5 years so we can work together with CM Adenan for Sarawak autonomy, for Sarawak for Sarawakians, and for Sarawakian in Malaysia.<\/p>\n

Every members can help.\u00a0 Every friends can help.\u00a0 New media to share with the rakyat.\u00a0 Together with CM Adenan, we can make things happen.\u00a0 Unlike oppositions, talk only.\u00a0 No need strong opposition to play up the sentiments.<\/p>\n

Once again sincerest thanks to all the delegates, the organizing committee, the staffs and comrades who volunteered to making this ADC a success.<\/p>\n
