\nSPEECH BY YB DATO’ SRI (Dr) RICHARD RIOT JAEM – DEPUTY PRESIDENT<\/strong><\/p>\n

Before I begin my speech, please join me for just a moment to pay tribute to our comrades who had left us, amongst them is the late Datuk William Tanyuh anak Nub.<\/p>\n

Firstly, as Deputy President, I would like to express my appreciation and gratitude to the secretariat for their hard work in preparing this 24th <\/sup>Annual Delegate Conference (ADC).<\/p>\n

I would also like to welcome fellow delegates especially those who had to travel long distance to this Annual Delegate Conference (ADC). Your attendances and participation in this ADC remind us all on how important is our work as delegates.<\/p>\n

Gearing Up For the Coming State Election and Next General Election<\/strong><\/p>\n

Let me begin by quoting the words of ancient Greek Philosopher,<\/p>\n

AESOP who said \u201cThose who betray their friends do not always realize that they are destroying themselves\u201d. <\/strong>Lets us ponder upon this.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

I am happy to see that since our Triennial Delegates Conference (TDC) in September last year, we have managed to close ranks within members<\/p>\n

– From Party Central Leaders, Youth Leaders & Women Leaders, and Branch leaders to the ordinary members.\u00a0 We have managed to regroup. Party quarrel, internal politics are things of the past. Thus, we must commend ourselves.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Party President and Fellow Delegates<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>We have very little time before the State Election which must be held before July 2016. We were given 19 seats in the 2011 State Election \u02d7 we won 6 and lost 13 seats. I believe that one of the causes of that tsunami in SUPP was as put in words of the ancient Greek Philosopher, Aesop. I quote again\u201d Those who betray friends, do not realize that they are destroying themselves\u201d.<\/p>\n

Thus, I urge and call all SUPP members to continue with the reunion. We must be united. We must stand together. For these two are the very ingredients needed to ensure victory. A house divided cannot stand together.<\/p>\n

Yang Amat Berhormat Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Adenan Haji Satem, State Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman and Chief Minister, has the \u2018rakyat\u2019, irrespective of race, religion, and culture, very close to his heart. His policies of moderation, harmony and diversity, in line with the true spirit of BN, are very well received.<\/p>\n

His famous calls \u201cGive me another 5 years\u201d must be heeded.\u00a0 There is no better way for us to help him achieve his calls. We must give him the seats. We must help him to to be our Chief Minister for another five years.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Party President and fellow delegates.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>ROS vide its letter dated 6.2.2015 has approved the amendment to SUPP Rules and Constitution. Amongst others, is the creation of ANOTHER Deputy President post. Though I was a party to the then delegates which resolved to have another Deputy President, I hope the current party leadership and delegates can re-look at it. Our questions should be:-<\/p>\n

  1. Is it really necessary to have two Deputy Presidents when the other entire component Parties in BN only have one Deputy President except for PBB?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
      \n
    1. Will it not lead to another split in the party?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      With those observations Party President, Fellow Delegates, I hope we have a fruitful ADC.<\/p>\n
