SUPP Kota Sentosa Branch Secretary, Wilfred Yap would like to reply to YB Chong Chieng Jen’s recent criticism through the press of Wilfred Yap’s statement on the lack of development in N.12 Kota Sentosa, in particular at Stampin Resettlement Scheme.
The criticism from YB Chong is clearly an admission that DAP YBs are not effective as a conduit/channel to the Government for securing development funding for the benefit of the constituency they represent when compared to constituencies represented by SUPP YBs.
Wilfred Yap does not want to be dragged into a childish and “Blame Game” argument with YB Chong Chieng Jen, the Sarawak DAP Chairman and State Assemblyman for N.12 Kota Sentosa and Member of Parliament of P.195 Bandar Kuching.
It must be made clear to the public that ADUN YBs receive RM15,000.00 and MPs are paid a fixed monthly allowance of RM16,000.00, not to mention other perks and benefits and as such Wilfred Yap would like to remind YB Chong on his role as an elected representative which amongst others is to contribute in a positive manner and represent effectively the constituents by raising their concerns to the relevant authorities and securing the necessary development funding from the Government to solve their various problems.
As DAP YBs are enjoying a hefty monthly pay check of RM15,000.00 as ADUN and RM16,000.00 as MP, DAP YBs are duty bound to serveand help the people in the constituencies they represent with whatever problems they are facing and most of all securing the development funding to solve all their infrastructure problems without giving excuses or engaging in the blame game.
I hope DAP YBs are aware that most problems cannot be solved through just calling a press conference or issuing press statements but through follow up on the various problems raised with realistic and appropriate actions done to solve the problems.
If problems can be solved just by a press conference or press statement blaming the Government, than there is no more need for the people to elect a “YB” to serve a constituency. Instead of criticisms, finding fault with the Government, giving excuses and engaging in a blame game, DAP YBs should go to the ground and start serving the people and ask the right and appropriate questions during state assembly sittings and parliament sittings for the benefit of the constituents he represent.
Sarawak DAP MPs and ADUN YBs should also focus less on rhetoric/irrelevant matters and more on serving the constituencies that they represent by solving the numerous local community problems and issues and bringing tangible benefits through securing development funding to solve the numerous infrastructure problems currently faced by the voters in the areas they represent to justify the huge salaries and allowances they are currently receiving.
Sarawak DAP should live in the present and focus on the future. Sarawak DAP should be held accountable, responsible and be brave enough to demand an answer from their political master, YB Lim Kit Siang from West Malaysia on why DAP is co-operating with Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, the central figure associated with the 1990s Bank Negara massive Forex losses which nearly bankrupt Malaysia at that time, Perwaja Steel Scandal and Bank Bumiputra Scandal and lastly be brave enough to ask whether Dr Mahathir during his time as Prime Minister had used petronas monies to bail out crony companies.
