SUPP Public Complaints Bureau Chief, Wilfred Yap have recently been receiving a lot of complaints on illegal posters being put up irresponsible parties. Following the numerous complaints received, Wilfred Yap who is also the Councillor for Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) have on many occasions raised the matter of illegal money lender posters during the various MPP council meetings.
The enforcement teams of Padawan Municipal Council have regularly during their patrols been removing money lender posters put up on trees, sign boards, lamp poles and public area. Expired advertisement banners and fishtail and other illegal banners are also removed. Despite regular removal by MPP enforcement officers, the problem persists and many more need to be removed.
SUPP PCB Chief, Wilfred Yap will continue to raise the issue of illegal money lender posters to the relevant authorities on the proliferation of illegal posters and banners as this is visual pollution and an eye sore. Furthermore, illegal money lender posters are against efforts by the Government to create a cleaner and greener living environment. Amongst the matters that will be brought up by Cr Wilfred Yap would be for violators who put up illegal posters and banners pay for the removal costs, to prosecute violators to the full extent of the law to serve as deterrence and for an amendment to relevant laws to increase the penalty for offenders.
SUPP Public Complaints Bureau Chief, Wilfred Yap also requested the Enforcement Team of MPP to ensure that in future, MPP enforcement staff shall increase the frequency of patrol and inspection of all public roads and housing estates in the MPP area and ensure that illegal posters, banners and fishtails continue to be taken down on a regular basis.
