SUPP Public Complaints Bureau (SPCB) Chief, Wilfred Yap was recently approached by the residents of BDC Resettlement Scheme at Jalan Stutong Baru who complained to him on the dilapidated road condition and blocked drains due to overgrown weeds. The residents had complained that the over grown weeds in the drains was affecting water flow and thereby can potentially cause flooding during heavy rain.
Following the complaint received, Wilfred Yap immediately highlighted the issue and notified Drainage & Irrigation Department (DID) of the matter. SPCB also requested their assistance to solve the problems faced by the residents on an urgent basis due to the fast approaching rainy season.
Upon the complaint to DID on the matter, Officers from DID have gone to the ground to inspect and assess the situation and also to see what can be done to resolve the problem. The officers from DID informed SPCB that they will soon conduct a study on the drainage situation in BDC Resettlement Scheme and come up with a comprehensive report and plan to resolve the issue on a long term basis.
On another unrelated matter, SPCB together with Madam Lim Chiew Lan of SUPP Women Section have successfully assisted a 26 year oldbed ridden individual from BDC Resettlement Scheme to obtain financial assistance from the Sarawak Social Welfare Department. The 26 year old individual concerned had recently suffered severe injuries to his head and could no longer work due to his injuries.
